Greetings!

Hi South Broward Team:

First of all, thank you for the invitation to join the blog. I am very pleased to be working with all of you. I have been looking over some of the work your students have posted on Google Doc and and it is wonderful and quite extensive!

Please let me know if anyone needs help. I will be happy to do what I can!

I would like to ask that all the project teachers drop me a line (actually Comment) just say hello so we can meet virtually. Tell me a little about how the work on the project is going. Also share with me any plans, problems, or concerns with the final presentation of all this wonderful work your students have accomplished in December.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

Sincerely,
Karen Diaz

Hi Karen:
Glad you are on board. As you have heard, hardware and software are difficult to come by but we are sharing and doing our best. My kids have started their research. This week we are going to perfect (?) our notebooks, which will contain the research data. Next week, we will start using the cameras and putting our presentations together. It is art, and I want the kids to enjoy this and be creative. I think once things get rolling with the presentation, we will be fine. I've told each group it is their job to teach people who their artist is and why they are inspired by the ocean. Anyway, thanks for the offer of help. As the presentation gets closer, I may have to take you up on this. Hope to meet you soon.

Hi, Karen, welcome. My students are on the reseach phase of the project. My students came up with subtopic questions related to our overall essential question. The subtopis questions include:
What will happen to the tourism industry in South Florda if humans keeps destroying our Coral Reef?

What would happen to the seafood source if pollution became a bigger problem?

What does it mean to "Go Green" in the Hospitality & Tourism Industry?

How did the oceans help our ancestors travel in history?

How has traveling by ocean evolved and what does the future hold in ocean travel?

What is the significance of the ocean attracting tourists around the world?

Based on the subtopic questions all members will research different aspects of this question. More details to follow. I am in the process of letting my students print out all of their research data so that they will have a hard copy to refer too. In regards to the final product some students have indicated that they will create Movies, PowerPoints, brochures as well as posters. Over the next few weeks, I will be in contact with you in regards to an update.

Thanks Cara

Recently I spoke with Veronica Woods, the education consultant, from IGFA and with the help of the librarian she amassed a plethora of information mermaid, LochNess and otherwise. Not only that-yes, there is more; I don't blog slightly nor unsightly-she copied all of it for me.
Her contact info. is 954-924-4309
and/or VWoods@igfa.org.
Sea (I am onboard and immersed in the topic.) you later,
ChapBee-for today and tomorrow only in honor of the new Seinfeld movie: "The Bee Movie"
p.s. To all in the know and others "onboard" isn't an actual dictionary word. Go figure

Hello Karen and welcome to our blog

I am working with two chemistry classes on the project and we are pretty much finished with the research part. Currently we are working on putting all the information together and finding the best way of presenting it. Two of the groups went on a water testing field trip and will be presenting their findings. You can see the progress of our groups as I have posted it on the blog.
I am looking forward to speaking with you on the 15th
:-)
